Think Different
I bought Speakers and a Reciver today .. old school style. Infinity Speakers, and a Kenwood Amp/Reciver. In the back it has Audio inputs oviously. RCA (red & white) ... What is the best way to hook up my iMac/iPod? I have a Headphone to RCA but I think there would be a better way to do it.

Any suggestions?

THANKS!

Your friendly local Radio Shack/BestBuy/CompUSA , or other retailer with any audio talent would have multiple options. Look up a Tweeter store, who will help you with your wallet, if you want to go for best quality sound.

So Mac itself doesn't make something to get the audio out? .. the HeadPhone jack is the only option? No way to use RCA cables or something like that? .. also what is the port next to the Headphone its the same size. Can Radio Shack/best buy ect... sell me something that will make the quialty better? I am just ya know trying to get the best idea.

I hooked my iPod up to it direct through the iPods head phone and that worked pretty good.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Your intel iMac has optical audio out through the same headphone port. The other connection that you see is audio-in (for a microphone or line-level in for recording, if you want to try that)
The optical audio out would be really good, but would require audio gear that will use that optical signal.
If you go to an Apple Store, with several in the vicinity of New York, you should be able to find a variety of connection schemes that Apple either makes, or sells. The audio out is actually of quite good quality, but you would need to have the good quality gear to use it.
And for the iPod, you can use Apple-lossless format to import files from CDs, instead of using the default, which is an MP3 compressed file, which is good, but you will hear the difference through a good-quality system, or through higher end headphones.
