recommend web technology?

i need to draw some diagrams, and put them on a web. they need to be dynamic, so simple pictures won t suffice.

is there a web markup language that has any kind of functionality like this? i mostly need trees, with boxes with text, and connecting lines.

can CSS do this?

That can create dynamic images

Also PHP has a few libraries that can create dynamic images/graphs/charts for stock prices and other similar things

i was thinking that CSS might be what i needed, but this description on webmonkey makes it sound like php is just what i need.

i was going to mention WebMonkey and someother large PHP site. I think phpdeveloper.com is it or maybe phpdev. I remember seeing a tutorial on the dynamic images somewhere

i m having a bit of trouble installing php. someone suggested i might try GraphViz with batik. i have never heard of these technologies, and am not sure what they are.

do you have any opinions of these?
