Recording TV programs on powerbook?

Hi people,

Is there a way in which I can record tv programs on to my powerbook so that I can watch them later on?

Is anybody doing this, and if so what hardware and software do I need etc.

Mostly such devices work over the firewire or usb 2.0 port.

Another option would be to get a Tivo w/DVD Recorder (Humax for example) and just make DVDs of the programs and watch the DVD on the powerbook.

If you want a good video tuner/input device, the Eye TV (elgato) is nice and well supported. Just make sure your HD is large, and you have plenty of RAM.

Thanks people - I'm going to look into the Elgato stuff. By the way in case anyone didn't know some of the Elgato products can be found at the apple store for purchase, but their selection isn't very good.
