Hi guys,

I've gone and deleted my e-mails from my mail folder as for some reason all my latest e-mail files seem to have been stored in a folder named under a long gone e-mail account not my current account (huh?) and for some wierd reason mail has re-created another folder with the same old account name to store a copy of the current e-mails in anyone know 1 how to change this and 2 if it's possible to get a good free prog to recover the deleted files??

Any help very much apprecited! @_@;;;;

If you transfer the Mail folder, located in /Users/<userwithmail>/Library, to the current user, you will transfer all your Mail.

so that seems to work but unfortunately I only had the 4 or 5 latest e-mails there :( I really don't understand how and why all my current e-mails were being stored in an obsolete mail account folder and not in the current one?? especially when the obsolete account was deleted long ago. Mail seems to have re-created this folder/account and for some reason decided to store all my new e-mails in it... ...and then I go and delete it thinking it was old and unwanted files *hits head on desk for not double checking*

And to top it all I had the 'remove copy from server' box ticked so no backups *hits head on desk*

also anyone know how to stop mail asking me for the password on a continual but random basis for one of my accounts (which is correct as it works sometimes in mail and all the time when I check my mail online) when it has a keychain set to 'always allow mail to access this keychain' - I have rechecked the keychain,done keychain first aid, deleted the keychain and created a new one, etc and tried just about everything I can think of!

basically having a mail nightmare - bleh! *hits head on desk....

Hey Amush - Thanks for the advice but this all happened many years ago now!

Thanks again for taking the time to post - much appreciated :)
