Not that I know of. There's no "Genuine Advantage" type of check with the client version of Mac OS X. The only version of OS X that I know requires a serial number is the Server version of OS X for servers.
There is a registration form that you can fill out when OS X is started for the first time ever, but that's mainly for information on you and your Mac. Nothing restrictive like Microsoft's Genuine Advantage.
