Reinstall OX X 10.1

Is it possiple to reinstall Mac OS X 10.1 over my excisting 10.1 and keep my settings, documents, pictures and my current users on my mac?

Apple has posted a notice that you shouldn't do this if you have installed the security update.

Not sure why. Maybe someone else knows.

IIRC, Apple's concern is that you would not get a full reinstall, but would end up with a "half-and-half" system that would be unstable.

I was affraid of that answer So i guess i have to copy all my apps to another harddrive and install a clean version

That's why I like partitions. Keeping all my added applications on a separate partition from the OS X system files makes it a lot easier to initialize and reinstall.

Well i have now installed a fresh copy of Mac OS X 10.1 and my mac seems more faster now than before. The only thing i forgot was all my bookmarks in Explorer (damn).
