Remote Computer can't be pinged

Hi Guys, I need help in remote accessing my Retail POS systems computer , iMac, from my home computer, Macbook. My system is setup is Primus Canada DSL (Speed Touch Modem), then Apples Time Capsule. I have setup Port Forwarding on the Time Capsule and using "Network Utility" I am currently unable to Ping my Static IP address but can see my "Open TCP Port: 9631" under "Port Scan". I believe my modem is either blocking or hiding my static ip, or Primus Canada, and was wondering if someone can give me some ideas on how to fix it.

My Server Computer at the store is running 10.5.8 and my Macbook is running 10.6.3.

BACKGROUND

My POS system was upgraded and prior to the upgrade I had remote access but since the upgrade I have been unable to access the server computer.

In the mean time, I have also changed my Phone carrier from Telus to Primus Canada so I could use Voip. Please be aware that my Voip Gateway is connected to the Time Capsule by Ethernet, in the same way my server computer is connected, so this should not be a factor.

I spoke to the support team from Xsilva POS Systems and they told me that because they and I are unable to Ping my static ip address that I wouldn't be able to access the server until I could fix that, but I can see my forwarding port.

Thanks

Am I getting this right?

1] Your client program running on your MacBook is able to connect to the private IP address of the iMac while your MacBook is connected to the same work network (when you are physically at work.)

2] You want to communicate from home to your iMac at work.

3] Your iMac at work is behind an Apple TimeCapsule router.

4] That router has NAT enabled with port forwarding to forward public port 9631 (both TCP and UDP protocols?) to private port 9631 on an internal / private IP address used by the iMac. (Are you actually using private addresses with NAT or a range of public IP addresses provided by your ISP?)

5] The iMac is using a manually entered IP address and not DHCP for instance. (In other words, are you certain that the IP address of the iMac is the same as the port-forwarding address for port 9631 on the TimeCapsule?)

6] The iMac has a service running on port 9631 and the iMac's firewall is allowing incoming traffic to port 9631?

7] "Enable Stealth Mode" is unchecked on the iMac (to allow it to reply to a ping request.)

8] Your client program running on your MacBook fails to connect from home to the public / WAN IP address of the TimeCapsule on port 9631?
