Is there a way to remove java so a previous version can be installed?

What do you think you will gain be reverting to an older version of Java?

How old do you want to go? The previous version is still on the drive for compatibility. You just need to tell the OS to use it instead of the new version.
The most recent install of Java installs a Java preference application at /Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE\ 5.0/Java\ Preferences.app

MisterMe. There is a certainly java app (SAP) that we use which has problems with the newest JVM. Blame the programmers I guess but I need to make sure it works correctly.
