Removing the shadows on icons in Panther?

Hmm... you should just be able to click somewhere in the desktop, and the highlight should go away... have you tried that? (Sorry if this is insulting at all.)

Are you talking about making the highlight look different? Apple did it that way so highlighted files would be instantly recognizable as being highlighted no matter what background they are set against. It may look a little ugly (of course, ugly is in the eye of the beholder), but it's quite functional... take some time to get used to it, and you may not even notice it anymore.

BTW, if you do get rid of that, you will have no way of seeing what is highlighted because the icon does not darken like in Jaguar.

I must say I like this change in icon selection of the Finder very much. It looks modern. What I _don't_ especially like is how the text below the icon is selected. I would opt for an icon frame that also includes the name of the file (same style). Right now, a selected icon looks pretty much the same as an unselected but labelled icon.

I agree, the Finder looks much cleaner now. I thought it was really weird looking at first (OK, maybe for about 30 seconds) but ever since I've loved it. It's SO much easier to see which file you have highlighted. I wouldn't go back for the world (but that's just me :D).

Your right, I will get used to it...
Just thought that there might be a hidden option somewhere is all.

Now that I think about it I am already used to it :)

2 Thumbs way up for Panther...
