Repeated crashes after sleep mode

I have a Powerbook G4. I am having occasional problems when I leave my machine unattended for a period of 20 minutes or more. When I hit the space bar to get the machine going again, I get a message telling me that I need to restart. On three occasions it has refused to restart, either repeating the message or hanging at some point during the boot sequence.

I've tried to re-start in single user mode and have run the scripts to repair files etc, but nothing worked and I had to do a complete re-install.

Does anyone else have these problems, or know what I should do about it?
 
Sound as if the PMU bord may be going bad in your powerbook. I had something like that go on on my G3 PowerBook running 10.4.6 found out when doing some testing that it was my PMU bord going bad. Got a New "Used" one off of Ebay and now I'm back in the game.
