Replacing Maxtor external HD

Hey folks, needing a bit of insight....

What I have is an old Maxtor 5000DV which has an old 160GB on it. And that's a DiamondMax, 7200rpm, Ultra ATA/133 interface.

Needless to say, the shutdown finally failed on it and the drive's on it's last legs and I want to replace/upgrade it...keeping the FW case that it came with.

Now, I'd like to increase the size of the drive I replace the drive with....but, forgetting what I have to watch for...like the larger drives are SATA, or...?

Thoughts/comments, appreciated!

Replace the drive. You already have a 160GB drive, so capacity should have no restriction. You will get an ATA drive, available with up to 750GB (currently). As you mentioned, you can't use an SATA directly in that case.
