The first edits listed are those for MacOS X. They haven't added my startup string location stuff to that page yet, so if you're interested in learning about how to replace the text strings that fly by when OSX boots up, here are some instructions:

Open /(Your OSX Disk)/System/Library/StartupItems

In each of the directories within you should find a "StartupParameters.plist" file.This file is a script that's run at the start of that service. The text that is displayed over the Boot Panel is visible in the script. Just change start string and you're cooking.
