Restarting just takes me to the login screen??

My PowerMac G5 has been acting kinda funky lately and one notable thing that it's doing is just taking me to the login screen when I select Apple -> Restart. I've tried repairing my permissions and running the disk repair multiple times but it keeps doing this.

Any ideas?

Have you checked System Preferences-> Accounts and see if you have auto-login selected?

I don't have auto-login selected and never have. But when I select it doesn't restart the machine, it just goes directly to the login screen.

Another odd thing is if I have to Force Quit a program, the second I close the Force Quit windo it shuts all my apps down and takes me right to the login screen.

Try creating a new account, and see if it happens on that account.
