Retractable audio cord?

I have no clue where to put this, so sorry if it's in the wrong forum...

Does anyone have any clue where I can buy a retractable audio cord (1/8" jack)? I want to set up a few places in my apartment where I can sit down and plug my laptop, iPod, etc into the local stereo in that room. It'd be great if I can just mount a little box with a retractable cord - I can pull it out and plug it in when I need it, then just hit a button (or whatever) to wind it back up automatically. This lets me hide the cords very well and avoid the ire of my girlfriend...

I had done a similar thing with phone cords, back before broadband or wireless. Can anyone help?

An audio cable is a single or dual conductor, usually wrapped in a shield, and not a good candidate for a retractable mechanism, but check yur local Radio Shack, they may have a suggestion...

There are devices that you can get to attach to your cord and wind it up. You may want to look into one of those.

You can also get doohickeys that will hold all your cords together neatly, though this is achievable with a simple zip tie.

...Or maybe you guys have a better suggestion. I want to be mount cords near, and cleanly be able to pull cords out to a couch and an easy chair (among other things). They should be as invisible as possible when not in use.

It'd be cleanest, I think, with a retractable cord, but perhaps there's a better way?

That's what I'm talking about. I got a catalogue of office products a while back, and it had some of those. I don't have the catalogue anymore, though, and I don't know what they're called, so I'm afraid I can't lead you any further down this rabbit hole; ask at your local Office Max or similar store.
