I used to use the computer right-handed, but since I started using the Mac at my parents house (this was in 1995 when we bought our first Mac, the Performa 6220CD) I was forced to uyse the mouse on the left side since my desk didn't allow me to place the mouse on the right in the configuration it was in. The desk was an L-shaped desk with the keyboard traay in the center, and the only place that had room for my Kawai K4 synth was the right side, which forced me to use the mouse on the left. It was weird at first, but I eventually got used to it and since it was a one-button mouse it didn't matter as much.
I kept that desk when I moved out, so when I had a PC I stuck with the same configuration. I also got used to playing FPS games this way, and it seems like the optimal setup to have the mouse on the left and the arrow controls on the right. And they are the perfect distance from one another.
At work, I use the mouse on the right, be it a Mac or PC, since I really don't have a need to have it on the left side. But at home I keep it on the left because it's what I've been used to, and for gaming (either on the Mac or PC), it's much easier for me.
Since I play keyboards, I always try and keep both hands as nimble and adept as possible. This meant that I had to train my left hand to do much more than my right (and yes, I know this leave me open to being taken out of context, but I'm hoping that me bringing it up <no puns please
> will prevent others from thinking it.....or not...
). So yes, I've basically trained myself to be fluid on both hands. (I'm diggin myself deeper here....time to stop... ::ha:
