It is a very good router in general and compatible with all wireless devices, which are conform the standaards. So no problems should be found with wintel laptops, gaming console etc. The important issue is - is the device equipped with a 100% wireless compatible adaptor and software. If so, no problems will occur.

Good luck, kees

I've tried configuring the airport extreme before and I found it to be a pain. That might be because I was touching a mac for the first time or might have just been me. Either way I was turned off of Apple for a year after that until my brother got a iMac.

I've personally found quite a bit of success in Linksys routers but on the other hand I trust Kees Buijs opinion.

I have an Airport Extreme. It works with my iBook and my IBM ThinkPad and an HP laptop. No problems.

I set mine up with the Apple Airport Setup Utility. Currently on Firmware 5.7 which is fine.

The only problem I had with setup was the upgrade to Firmware v5.6. Reverting to v5.5.1 sorted out the problems. Then went straight to 5.7.

Just make sure that the Airport is the only unit on your network issuing the IP addresses. If the modem is trying to do the same thing - trouble is in store.
