Router troubles...

Today I bought a d-link cable modem (DCM-202) and a Dynex (DX-E401) router to replace my linksys modem and router. Anyways I got my MAC address changed so I have an internet connection now. I have two macs and I want to share the connection but either one computer or the other seems to take the Cable IP address directly therefore only one computer is getting internet at a time. I have tried re-plugging and un-plugging the modem/router with the computers off, on, and off and on. That doesn't seem to fix my problem like the linksys router I have. I have looked around the net for quite a bit (and these forums) to no avail. Help @@

Can you describe your network setup in a little greater detail?

How are the modem, router, and computers hooked together? Is the cable modem plugged into the WAN port on the router, or could you have mistakenly plugged it into a LAN port (in which case, like you describe, one computer would "grab" the IP address handed out by the cable modem)?

The correct configuration would be:

Cable modem -> WAN port on router via ethernet
Computer 1 -> any one of the four LAN ports on the router
Computer 2 -> any other one of the LAN ports on the router
...
Computer X -> any of the open LAN ports on the router
