RSS Reader Software

Hello all,

Just trying to join the year 2006 with everyone else and start using an RSS reader to keep up with the blogs I read.

I found http://feeds.reddit.com and it looks decent and free...

Are thre any other free alternatives you guys would recommend?

Open to suggestions! Thanks!

The site you've mentioned is not an RSS reader application, but rather an online service for the same task. I suggest you look at NewsFire and NetNewsWire (full and light version) for starters. There are a couple of others (free as well as shareware), but I've personally found NetNewsWire (the full version) to be what I _really_ want in a newsreader, because it integrates WebKit very nicely.
 
I second NetNewsWire, and it also comes with a free year of newsgator service when you buy it so you can check you feeds over the web from other machines. Excellent software.
 
Wow. I agree. Vienna is very clean. And it being free: Good, good, good. :) (I think I just might ditch NNW for this. I actually despise the NewsGator stuff...)
 
Yeah, I remember being very happy when I found Vienna. I had been using NNW Lite, but there was something about it that really irked me. Does it require clicking a button to update the feeds, instead of doing so on a schedule? (I wish Vienna's schedule were customizable, especially on a per feed basis...)

I added the Feed Your Reader extension to Firefox to enable those orange RSS icons in the URL bar to feed Vienna instead of Firefox's Live Bookmarks. http://projects.koziarski.net/fyr/ The extension doesn't appear to be in addons.mozilla.org anymore. Hmmm?
 
Thanks for the info guys, Vienna sounds really interesting! I'm going to give it a try. Let me know if anyone has any more suggestions!
