Safari crash/loop on start-up

I have a G5 with 2 log-on accounts. My friend's log-on works fine and he uses Safari, but mine suddenly opens, closes/opens/closes in a repeated loop. If I can get the "Try again" window to come up, sometimes that fixes the problem temporarily, but when I shut down and re-start again it starts that loop. It's right when the desktop loads. I see it for a few seconds then everything disappears and I get the "Safari suddenly closed" message and then the loop starts. Any ideas I might try? Thanks, Mark
 
Delete the preference file for Safari, located here: "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist" ...
 
If that doesn't do it, you might need to deactivate all Safari add-ons you've installed yourself. Like PitHelmet, Saft, Sogudi etc. - or look for updates thereof.
