Safari crashing. A LOT.

I'm not sure if there's a bug with the way Safari handles Japanese script, or if I've got a corrupt font. Either way, some web pages just kill Safari (repeatably) with a stack trace that points to something dealing with text width calculation. Is anybody else having this problem? Or should I start removing fonts?

Which sites make it happen to you especially? I personally think I have far more problems with incompatible flash ads than fonts.

Or with the asian fonts .. there is one big annoyance: I can't write any asian fonts in the forums etc. (Japanese, Korean etc). They look nice on the reply box but they look like "????? ??? ?? ???????" in the browser.

I stopped working with Safari since version 1.0 came out! TOO many crashes! It was like a flash back of using IE while using Windows

Camino all they way! In almost 3 months while using nighlty builds I had 6-8 crashes at the most... And I abuse the Tabs A LOT: I load at least 5-6 tabs at the same time constantly :D And in some cases more than 10 at the same time! :p

Oh, that's usually an issue with the web server setting the wrong default encoding. Safari defaults to Western script, then just cuts all the other characters when you post. Pull down View, and select a text encoding such as Unicode before you post the message.

But anyway, here's a site that does it to me: http://www.konami.co.jp/am/bm/1st/how/1sthow.html
Leave the text encoding set to Default.

UPDATE: Argh. Found the problem. It seems that there's an incompatibility in a free font. It's part of the series containing FreeMono, FreeSerif, and others. Safari usually crashes when loading ISO-2022-JP encoded pages while defaulting to Western, and when these fonts are available.
