When trying to send a link from a web page, in safari, it tells me it cannot find a mail program. I cannot find anywhere to tell it I want it to use mail.

Try this solution.

Quit Safari from the menu bar.

In a Finder window select your home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder.

Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.

Relaunch Safari and try again.

It worked! Thanks for the tip. This was in places on my computer I have never been before.
I wonder if other problems I from time to time could be fixed by trashing cache files for other programs. I might try it next time.
Thanks again for your help.
Dan

Occasionally the caches (programs, fonts etc) can get corrupt over the time, and random issues like the one above can occur. But usually this is very infrequent.
You could also get OnyX or Yasu for a systems maintenance program (at least OnyX is available for free), as that can do various maintenance things when needed.
