safari freezes bookmarks

safari freezes when I click on

It does not happen when typing anything. If I just click on the open book icon it will freeze the entire page.

Hi, my bookmarks still freeze safari. I am using Safari 3.2. Should I try safari 4. I am not sure if it will mess things up more. sorry I could not respond before today, was away.
