Safari Hangs, I see a rainbow disk....often

More often than not, when I am using Safari for simple web based tasks (gmail, reading the paper, etc) it gets to a point where it hangs and all I see is the little rainbow swirl for minutes on end.

I don't mind running ps aux to kill safari and start again, but it is a little annoying.

Does any one have a similar problem? Does any one know what may be happening?

It is Safari Version 2.0.3

Thanks

Suggestion: (particularly, if you have a high speed connection)
01. With 'Safari' quitted, locate, open, trash, and delete the contents of your '~/Library/Caches/Safari/' folder.
02. Close the folder's window.
03. With the 'Safari' folder selected do a 'Finder' 'File, Get Info' menu selection (or 'Command I'). A window titled 'Safari info' will appear.
03. Locate and click on the 'Locked' check box, to add a check mark.
04. Close the 'Safari info' window.

No more caches.

Some prefer this actions; others prefer the fifteen folders of folders of cache and other files.

---

The above, can also be applied to the 'Icon's folder of the '~/Library/Safari/' folder.
