Safari not playing .wmv and .wma files

I am designing a website with iWeb. I am linking to Windows Media audio and video files. On my PC, the files play with no problem. On my Mac, no such luck. I do have Windows Media Player installed on my Mac. And, the Windows Media Player application launches when I select the link. However, I get an error message that says:
The specified stream type is not recognized.

Can you help me work around this glitch?
 
you need a codec to play wmv files and wma files aswell i would assume. And if not a codec download windows media player for mac wmv = Windows Media Video wma = Windows media Audio. Get where im going at with this?
 
Do you have the Flip4Mac WMV player plugin installed? This will allow WMV files to play in Quicktime and Safari
