Safari Problems

For some reason Safari 1.2 just hangs on launch and I have to force quit it. I have tried a complete re-install but the installer opens and just hangs. Any ideas anyone?

What system software are you running, and what kind of Macintosh do you have?

If you have Panther, then reinstalling Safari via the download from Apple's site is not an option, since that's version 1.2 and you want version 1.2.3. Try extracting it from your original installer CDs with Pacifist, then run software update or apply the 10.3.5 combo updater to make sure Safari's up to date.

If you're not running Panther, ignore all that.

Hi Jeff

Thanks - I have a PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz running system 10.3.5.

Since my last posting other odd things have been happenning and I now suspect the system software. I upgraded to 10.3.5 last week using the standalone installer from 10.3.4 - I usually use software update but could not get it to complete to update. Now I cannot get into system preferences and I cannot get into accounts either - I just get the hanging pizza! I just tried a clean reinstall from the Panther OS X disks and my system won't even allow this. I am now concerned that at any moment the whole lot is going to go TWANG! I am about to install a new system on a Formac hard drive so I have another start up disk. For some reason the fan also keeps kicking in, most unusual so far....

Any more suggestions? Thanks

Paul
