hi all
whenever i download a .ram file with safari, it assigns it incorrectly an adobe golive icon and so boots up GoLive, which is annoying.. in prefs how do i access the file helpers so i can change the assignement to quicktime or realPlayer???

regards andy

Command-I on the file to see the Get Info window. In there you change the program it opens with. You can set to Change All for that type of file.

The MacOS, and not 'Safari', assigns the application of which to open a file.

01. Locate a '.ram' file and right button click on it ('control' click, if using a single button mouse; or, select 'Finder's 'File, Get Info' menu item.) and select 'Get Info' from the contextual menu.
02. From the 'Open with:'s popup menu select 'RealPlayer' (if listed) or 'Other...' and navigate to where the 'RealPlayer' application is located.
03. Select 'RealPlayer', and click on the 'Add' button.
04. Click on 'Open with:'s 'Change All...' button, and then the 'Continue' button of the 'Are you sure you want to change ... '.ram".' dialog box.
05. Close the '... Info' window.

From this moment on (or until MacOS X hiccups, and loses the association) any double clicked on '.ram' file will be opened via 'RealPlayer'.
