I have multiple pc's running xp on my network and i have one mac running 10.2. My question is how do i have each pc allow access to certian files on teh mac running samba? i have the samba sharing program from the net to configure samba. I want to be able to set each user from each pc have different access to certain files. can someone explain how i can do that. i also want to ahve each pc user have to put in a password and username to gain access on the mac. is this all possible?

You set up Windows Sharing in the Sharing control panel on Mac OS X 10.2.

Then you create users (yes, they can also login on the Mac machine locally).

Then you work with aliases. Put aliases of the folders you want them to have access to into their home folders.

You'll have to set the privileges of the real folders (not the aliases) to what's needed, i.e. if they're in the same group as the owner of the folder, you can define group read/write, for example.
