Hey, I posted a message a while back (I think) regarding a stupid Sony USB CD burner. Well, I didn't watch too many DVDs with my computer, and the dumb Sony drive wouldn't work with anything in OS X (because of the USB bus). So... I followed somebody's suggestion to swap the DVD drive out with the Sony CD burner drive.

It worked! iTunes recognized it before I could even check the Burning preferences, and Toast Titanium works great to!

It only burns up to 4X, which sucks, but at least I'll use it now! Yay! I'm happy!
 
that was 'back in the day' when Apple seemed to think that watching DVDs was more relevant than providing a built-in CD burner. (I've worked on lots of PCs with DVD-rom also, Apple is not a crook :)

So... nobody wants a DVD-ROM drive? OK, OK, any takers just have to pay shipping. I won't make any money off it. Minneapolis folks, you can swing by my door and pick it up! (PM me for a map and details.)
 
I'd take it if I didn't already have one in my iMac, plus the "home entertainment system" DVD player. The player in my iMac is CD/DVD-ROM only, BTW... I was really disappointed that it couldn't burn CD's when I first got it.

And my 52X burner doesn't always seem to like working.
