scratch discs are full

Hello, I'm working in Photoshop on my macbook pro and I am getting this message that scratch discs are full. I dumped some files to clear up space and that did not work. I googled and tried to follow some advice of looking for temp files but I could not find where they are located. I have a deadline for a project and I am stuck. Thank you in advance.

How big is your hard drive, and how much free space is left on the drive?

Your drive can have quite a bit of free space showing, even as much as 40% of the drive free, but if the data on that drive is very fragmented, then there won't be enough free contiguous space on the drive for it to run normally.
