Screen changes color

Several times today the screen suddenly kinda darkens, a yellowish color where it was white for a few seconds, but isn't hung up or stopped -- then changes back. Can anyone tell me what may be wearing out or going on?

What screen? What computer? CRT or LCD?

Please elaborate greatly -- without knowing even what kind of "screen" it is, we can't even begin to troubleshoot the problem -- help us help you!
 
I have a ViewSonic monitor screen with the MacOSX G4 10.2.8. Does that help? Want to upgrade but not if something needs fixing first.
