screen goes black

imac g5 :
i just had my power supply and logic board replaced.
after reloading my os software (tiger ) i have noticed that my screen fades to black when the machine is not being used. the screen saver is set to 5 min then it starts. several minutes after the screen saver starts. it fades to black,with the machine still on.
the sleep selection is set to never.
it doesn't go to sleep, it just fades to black. when i stroke the mouse or a key the screen comes up to the screen saver for a second then goes away like nothing is wrong..
could there be something wrong? or a setting that isn't right...
let me add, that i use the expose feature. could that be triggering anything?

Have you installed any third-party screensavers lately? You can have this problem with some buggy screensavers. Try deleting your ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ScreenSaver.Engine.plist file. Launch Sys Prefs and try switching your screen saver. Hope this helps.
