Screen saver control panel

I don't seem to be able to activate the screen saver control panel. Whenever I try, it hangs indefinitely. I can kill it of course, but can never open it. Is anyone else having this problem?
 
I haven't. I would seriously think about a nice fresh install though...

That always fixes everything. ;) It's honestly a real lazy way to troubleshoot, but almost unerringly successful!

Wish I had an easier solution, and certainly anyone can trounce me if there's a better way. In fact...
Is there a way to install individual packages? I'll post that on the Unix board if you've got an answer.
