Screen Shot to Clipboard

I basically lived off of the Screenshot to clipboard (Shift - Command - 4 and then holding the control key) function to put together quick compositions in Photoshop. Since X this feature seems gone.

As a workaround I have the Grab applicaton in my dock which at least allows me to select a part of the screen. From there I copy it to the clipboard and then paste it into my app. What gives? Isn't there an easier way? Does anywone know how to give me back the precious 5-10 minutes each day?

It does save the screenarea - but it saves it to a file and not to the clipboard. Am I going nuts now? You can grab a screenshot directly to the clipboard???????

Yup.
I use Ctrl-Apple-Shift-4
Then Apple-V straight into word

AAAAAAAHHHH! You are my savior!!! =)
Here is the difference between OS 9 and X: OS 9 allowed you to just press Shift-Command-4 and then while selecting the screen area press control. OS X apparently requires you to press all four keys at one...
