ScreenSaver Question

Forgive me if this is really novice, but I just started on OSX.

I set my screensaver to come on after 10 minutes of non-use, but all the time the screen turns black and never shows the screensaver. What would be the reason for this?

Do you have the Energy Saver settings set to Sleep before the screensaver kicks in?

I unchecked put the harddrive to sleep whenever possible, so hopefully that will do it.

Don´t think the hard-drive has anything to do with it . Check the sleep and "put the display to sleep after..."

And also, have you checked that your screensaver is working as it should?
Check it using "preview" in the screensaver panel.
