how do i take screen shots on my g4 osx machine?can anyone tell me please

Command-Shift-3 for fullscreen screenshots.

Command-Shift-4 for taking screenshots of a selected area.

Command-Shift-4-Spacebar for taking a screenshot of a window, the menubar, the Dock, desktop icons, or any other specific whole item.

The command key is the one with the cloverleaf symbol on it (which is in fact the symbol for an interesting feature or attraction in a Swedish campground).

Command-shift-3 will take a screen shot of the entire screen. Command-shift-4 will give you a cursor with wich you can select a portion of the screen to capture. Command-shift-4 and then space will give you a "camera cursor" that will capture the window you click on.

And to top things off: No, this thread does *NOT* belong to the HOWTO section, legion. A "howto" is an explanation, not a question. It's a document laying out "how to" do something. Thread moved.

Here's another option:

In your utilities folder, you should have an OS application called Grab. Open that up, and then pull down the Capture menu and choose "Selection". Then, you can pull a rectangle around the section of the screen you want to capture. An immediate window with that screenshot will appear on your monitor and you can then choose whether you want to save it to your desktop or cancel it.
