SCSI card from G3 in Quicksilver

I have a G3 desktop (beige) with built-in SCSI port and a Quicksilver G4 733. Is it possible to install the scsi card into my G4? Are there any driver or hardware problems to solve?
 
The major problem you might have is if the SCSI card is sodered on to the board of your G3. Some models have a pull out card, some do not.

Open the G3 and check it out. If it is indeed a pull out card the next thing you must do is check the G4 for an open port that can accomodate the card.

The next trick is to find out if the new machine will run your SCSI equipment. What OS are you running?
 
I think very few desktop G3s came with SCSI cards, more often in mini-tower G3, yours is probably permanently on logic board, in that case, the fast answer is NO. But if SCSI port is on removable card. the firmware on that card probably has to be upgraded to work on the newer logic board. Some cards require that upgrade through some type of PC through Windows! Then, your external devices may need updated software, which may or may not be available at all yet. A good example is most SCSI scanners.... But, I've read reports that as OSX has been updated, some SCSI devices, like some CD burners, begin working again after an update to OSX. LOL :cool:
 
I run OS X on my G4 indeed but would actually be fine to just startup OS 9 whenever I need to use the SCSI device. First though I will check out if the SCSI card is removable as you mentioned - hopefully on the week-end. Thanks for your advice!
