Searching metadata on a Windows server

We have a Windows 2003 server on which we have a large archive of photos. The few of us that need to access this archive are on Macs, all running version 10.5.6. I know that on a Mac, when we search files located on our machines, it searches the metadata or keywords in the jpeg files. However, when I search the windows server, it doesn't look at that info. Is there any way to change that? Anything that can be done to either the macs or the windows server?

I also noticed that when I have a file selected that is located my mac and hit "Get Info" I am able to see all that metadata under the "More Info" section. However when that same file is sitting on the windows server, "Get Info" doesn't show me anything.

Hi
Have all the latest patches been applied to the Windows server?
What network protocol is being used to share the files to the Mac's (SFM or SMB)?

Should allow the extra metadata to be stored with the file on Windows 2003 server, the builtin MS protocols are really bad at this. You can download a trial to test. It works really well, almost as good as Apple's own AFP in OS X Server.
