Hi all is it possible to have my macbook pro connected up to a large monitor and have the lid closed?

I have tried and as soon as the lid is closed the screen goes off, i have disabled all power saving features to no avail?

Any ideas?

Thanks

If you want to use an external monitor while the lid is closed - connect an eternal mouse and keyboard. Close the lid, then press a key on the keyboard, to wake your system. The internal display will remain off. This is known as 'clamshell mode'

I've always wondered about that name, though. "clamshell mode"? I get the image, but wouldn't that make the normal mode the "open clamshell mode" and the other one the "closed clamshell mode"? Either way.. ;)
