Security Update

On 20/6/10 downloaded and installed Security Update 2010-004 "(1.0)
Computer failed to reboot, firstly showing grey screen only. Tried to reboot then showed circle with diagonal line through it. Rebooted again then displayed folder with question mark inside, rebooted again continuous chiming reboot sound.
Zapped P ram, computer rebooted correctly. Went to repair disk permissions found as follows:
ACL found but not expected on "applications/utilities".
ACL found but not expected on "applications".
ACL found but not expected on "library".
Applications booting slowly and sometimes failing to boot. Computer freezing randomly.

I have a Macbook Pro (9 months old) running MAC OSX 10.5.8 (9 L 31 a)
 
Try re-applying the latest Combo update that is appropriate for your system (that would be the 10.5.8 Combo updater), downloadable for free from Apple.
