Sending a Mac Word file to PC users - Squares and Stars and Dots, oh my!

I'm running Mac OS 10.47 and Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac version 11.0.

When I send a Word file to PC users (or when I cut and paste from Word and put it into an email and send to PC users) "THEY" get all sorts of symbols, stars, squares, bullets, etc in their text.

Is there any way to get around this so we can live in peaceful coexistence??

Thanks!
Patrick

Send the Word document as an attachment. That should be fine.

But if you're composing an email message intending to copy and paste into Mail you'd be better off using TextEdit in plain text mode.

Make sure that you're using a standard font, like times. Also, I know that the 2004 version has a "Compatibility Report" option, might want to give that a try. If none of that works, you might just have to use unformatted text.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will try them out. Was thinking I should just attach a Word file to an email - send it to myself and pick it up through a PC and then forward it to others. WHAT A HASSLE!!
