Sending Large Amount Of Emails

I have been asked by my work if I can send out about 5000 emails to our clents every two weeks or so. It causes problems at work every time we do it(bandwidth). Anyone know a good way of doing it, I have found software on google, but it is all for PC's and will it be possible with my 1GB broadband connection. Thanks.
