sendmail problems

I'm trying to get sendmail working so I can send and receive with mutt. When I try to send out I get the following in the system log:

Jan 18 03:55:21 e-this sendmail[20275]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR: putoutmsg (NO-HOST): error on output channel sending "451 4.0.0 fill_fd: before readcf: fd 1 not open: Bad file descriptor": Bad file descriptor
Jan 18 03:55:21 e-this sendmail[20275]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(hazmat): fill_fd: before readcf: fd 1 not open: Bad file descriptor
Jan 18 03:55:21 e-this sendmail[20275]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(hazmat): fill_fd: before readcf: fd 2 not open: Bad file descriptor


Anyone know what this is?

what did you change in the .cf or m4 file that was stock?

All I changed was sendmail.cf according to http://homepage.mac.com/gdif/tipstricks.html and http://www.tijsseling.com/professional/xtips.html#15 .

I think I've seen the aforementioned web sites long time ago... and I remember seeing alot of incomplete instructions on running sendmail.

well, I remember seeing alot of discussions going on here, too... you might wanna do a search on "sendmail" here...

you should find more than a few threads.
