server address not working Entourage

I have been using Entourage for one of my clients both onsite and offsite. When onsite I hook up directly to the local server. When offsite I pull my webmail directly into a second mailbox in Entourage via the exchange server. This has been working fine for about 9 months.

Now, the company moved and did not 'reconfigure' anything, but ever since I can no longer connect onsite. (webmail is not an option onsite) My email now seems like it is connected, but will not send/receive email. I am getting an error something like "there has been a server interuption" when I try to send. The other problem is now when I am offsite, both mail boxes are connecting (previously only the exchange mailbox would connect remotely and the other mailbox always said "not connected".
 
I gather that you had been using Entourage to access an Exchange server on your LAN. You are not clear on this, but I infer that your server is now outside your LAN. You need to understand that many firms do not allow access to Exchange servers outside the LAN. Exchange users outside the LAN are often required to use Outlook Web Access, a web-based client with a strong Internet Explorer bias.

It gets worse. As an Exchange client, Entourage sucks. Outlook has the ability to discover Exchange on your LAN. Even Outlook 2001, the last Mac version of the app, can discover your Exchange settings. Entourage can't.

Every installation of Exchange is different. There is no guarantee that your installation of Exchange is compatible with Entourage after your company moved. If your IT staff is willing to work with you, then you may call them for the proper settings. If not, then you may closely examine a working installation of Outlook for the proper settings. Retype those into Entourage 2004.

Thanks. My "tech knowledge" is only moderate so you lose me with the LAN bit. I am a contractor and the company doesn't have IT (or they have it sometimes, but they only understand PC).

Anyway, I appreciate your responding. I will look for more info.

A LAN is a Local Area Network. This is the network inside your firm. It may be as small as a computer and printer connected to the same router. It may encompass your entire campus.
