Setting up MX Records

Finch

Insert something here...
I've had success in doing this before so I have some idea as to what I'm trying to accomplish in setting up MX records for a clients mail server. In my previous experience if I recall correctly this connection was DSL and the ISP themselves had no real issues with end-users/SoHo etc. running in house mail servers plus the IP was static.

In this case its a start up as well, choice of mail server is FirstClass but the connection this time around is cable we checked into DSL unfortunately its not available in the area anytime soon. I know the cable internet provider doesn't allow for end user servers not sure if this also applies to their business connections as well but unlike DSL with a dedicated IP connection cable is DHCP no static option offered by cable internet provider.

First is this possible or am I banging my head against a wall? Second if it is I imagine it will mean bucking the system in some sort of way or fashion. Third and lastly I think, if this is possible how do I address sending mail SMTP I know Rogers uses mail authentication for sending mail, will this add further issues?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
