I'm setting up my XServe (OS 10.3) and it has 2 ethernet ports and a firewire port. I've got the ethernet 1 port manually configured w/ a static IP address, and the ethernet 2 port automatically configured w/ DHCP. My question is about the firewire port. Given that it is talking w/ an XServe RAID via firewire connections, should it be configured for TCP/IP or for Appletalk? If TCP/IP is better, should it be a static address that is the same as the one on my ethernet 1 port, a different static address, or should it be determined by DHCP?
