I agree. And I think this may cause a bloom in themes... I like customization a lot, and btw. this also removes brushed metal from eg. Safari, Adressbook,...
 
A bloom in themes? You think Shapeshifter is going to make people make more themes when Themechanger, Duality, etc. didn't necessarily do so? (Not to be taken accusingly)

I like customization too, so if it works, then great.
 
I agree with aaike here. It _will_ be a boost for themes. Because a) it sounds safer than replacing system resources and b) it adds to the flexibility of themes (theme creators can now change font colours for the first time!).

This will also lead to many, many bad (read: ugly) themes and make it more difficult to find the ones that actually let you do your work. ;-)
