I'm a recovering PC user who is trying to sort out some switching issues. I've recently added a firewire drive to my Mac and would like to access the FW volume from my PC (running XP) - I've been able to do that much via a samba share and sharepoint, but I'd like it setup so that the PC only has read access to the drive. No matter what I try, the PC can either a) not connect at all or b) has read/write access - also, I'd rather not have to enter any username/password when connecting to the share. I've tried creating a new user on the mac and then setting the permissions of the firewire drive so that only the admin has read/write access and that all others only have read access - but again, all to no avail. I'm stumped. I'd appreciate any advice.
