Shifting Icons

For some strange reason, my desktop icons have taken on the habit of shifting to the center of the screen.

I have no time-frame when this activity started, becuase I normally leave my desktop free of icons.

I read a tip suggestion using the desktop as a temporary location for copying files so I started using it more.

Now my icons shift to the center and list from the top of the desktop.

When I try to move the files back into place on the right side of the screen I can't move them past the cener point.

I can shift the icons freely in the left portion of the screen, but when I try to move past the center part of the screen the icon jumps to the center of the screen on the mouse release.

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem. Icons placed near the dock often jump in 1 'column'. Icons on the upper left (top row, 1-2 columns in from left) jump somewhere. Annoying.

When I logout/in. I usually get control of most placement again -- at least for awhile. No idea as to triggers, however. Resizing icons, though, is a sure bet for chaos.

Two things that help, and may clear your problem. 1. Make sure that Desktop View Options Icon Arrangement is set to 'None'.

2. Try changing Displays resolution to something else, then change back to your normal setting. You may need to log out then log back in at that different resolution setting, then change to your normal one. this step may not help in all situations, but try it anyway.:D :D
