here ya go... straight from Macromedia

http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/ts/documents/sw_install_osx.htm

The Shockwave Player cannot be installed on Mac OS X
Product: Director
Platform: Mac OS X
Versions: 8.51
ID: 16172

This TechNote addresses Shockwave Player installation problems on Macintosh OS X operating systems.

Issue
On some OS X systems, the Shockwave Player installer will fail with the following error: "Error creating file 1008:5,-5000 Access denied error".

Reason
This error is produced when the user who logged on to the machine and attempting to install the Shockwave Player does not have permission to copy files to the root folder. The problem of permissions may be caused by a previous installer incorrectly resetting privileges to the root folder.

Solution
A couple of options are available:
Log onto the system as the "root" administrator and install the Shockwave Player.
Set the root folder's privileges to "775".
1. Open the "Terminal" application (Applications:Utilities:Terminal).
2. Type: "sudo chmod 775 /" in the terminal window.
3. Run the Shockwave Player installer Application.

Hope this help.

... or you can download Pseudo from versiontracker and start it from there. Pseudo will execute the installer with root permissions give you write access to "/"

But why does shockwave want to write to root?

what about a -35 error on install? Any ideas why I can't find my boot drive? Clean 10.2 install on one 20gb and upgraded to 10.2.2
