Shortcut to a CIFS volume on Mac OS X desktop?

Folks,

is there any way to "persist" a connection to a CIFS (Windows Server) volume as a shortcut of some sorts on the Mac OS X desktop?

I would really like to be able to persist the info I need to enter (the server name, the domain it's in, the user name to use etc.) into some sort of a shortcut that I could just click on - instead of having to go back to the "Connect to Server" dialog and having to type everything back in from memory....

There ought to be some way of achieving this.......

Can you make an alias of the volume to the Desktop once you've connected? Then you should be able to double-click that and have it open the connection back up.

Also, make sure when you connect that the string is like username:password:domain (I *think*, you may want to do a search here) so it remembers that when you make the alias.
